YC123.04.15 - A Month Gone By

Image
//PERSONAL LOG //ENTRY BY  CLEMENTINE LAFLEUR //DATE  YC123.04.15 A whole month without an entry, wow? My biggest worry when I started this was that I would forget to take notes of my thoughts and feelings. I guess that was true? Is it possible that I am starting to lose touch with my own emotions like Charles mentioned all those months ago. Sure, I still get the shakes in combat, but they are not from panicking or worrying, they are from euphoria. That excitement of testing my skills against another. Like gladiators from the storybooks, striking at each other, blocking, parrying back and forth, vying for that killing blow. Maybe this is something all capsuleers experience, and maybe what leads them to that god complex I've seen? Regardless of that, a fair amount has happened lately which could have also contributed to the reason why. My work with the FIO in Eugales is still ongoing. I managed to sit down for our first meeting with Laura . I was accompanied by Jarlath ,...

YC123.03.14 - Grand Prix

Image
//PERSONAL LOG //ENTRY BY  CLEMENTINE LAFLEUR //DATE  YC123.03.14 This week sees the start of the  Federation Grand Prix . A series of checkpoints all over the cluster marking significant landmarks. I wasn't going to take part, partly due to many capsuleers unofficially calling it The Gank Prix . Some of the legs of each of the routes take you through lowsec which is prime for those that like to sit on a stargate and activate their bubbles and smart bombs. The Northern route eve takes you up through Syndicate to get to Solitude . To say this is a death race is an understatement, and even if you are on the fastest ship built, you are still at risk. Edward said he was running it and he even managed to get on the leaderboard the other day, which lit a fire under my feet to try it. My first lap went fine, no hassle. Only one camp but I managed to get through it in my Ares. The downside, it wasn't timed, and for me to be considered for the leaderboard I needed to run th...

YC123.03.08 - Ski Resort

Image
//PERSONAL LOG //ENTRY BY  CLEMENTINE LAFLEUR //DATE  YC123.03.08 The weekend has been simply wonderful! I traveled to Kor-Azor for the first time to enjoy the prize I bid on at Directix's fundraising auction that happened a few weeks ago. It was only for a day and a night at her Ski Resort in the mountains, but that was enough to enjoy the slopes. I was allowed to take a plus one, so I messaged Kelyn about it. He and I seemed to get on well before he was employed by LUMEN, but in my naivety, I put him at arm's length after he did. Maybe I thought it was unwise to consort with the enemy ? These past few months have shown me that those lines are terribly blurred and that some, maybe most of the things we were taught as children aren't as simple as us and them . This maybe is some means of an apology to him, and maybe even a chance to grow a stronger connection. We arrived later in the afternoon but managed to get a few hours of skiing in. I realised that it's much eas...

YC123.03.02 - Sujarento

Image
//PERSONAL LOG //ENTRY BY CLEMENTINE LAFLEUR //DATE YC123.03.02 Norman Seversky We did it! Finally, after three weeks of tug of war, we took Sujarento . It was hard-fought, but all credit must go to Lieutenant Sentinel Norman Seversky  and his team for making this happen. Without his leadership and drive to ensure all our militia's might was focused on this system, I don't think it would have happened. Intel had told us that it was the stronghold to the State militia's Marine Division lead by Fabian Berg , and if we would be to take it, it would be the last real resistance of State's militia strength broken. I am glad I could be there for a historic event. And I hope this is the right step into opening up a line of dialog to the Caldari, who have shown that they can not stand alone in a time where we must all band together against more present threats of our cluster. YC123.02.18 - Guardian's Gala

Image
//PERSONAL LOG //ENTRY BY  CLEMENTINE LAFLEUR //DATE  YC123.02.18 It's been a busy week in New Eden. A new CONCORD directive was announced to disrupt the annual celebrations between the Serpentis pirates and Angel Cartel. I and a few of my corp mates have been doing just that. I did make a mistake on day one though, losing my Astero after it got decloaked by one of their frigates. But with the combination of bounties, overseer's effects, and a random assortment of commodities, we have been making a tidy profit. They have also been dropping SKIN licenses which I thought would be a nice idea to donate to Directrix Dahiti's   fundraiser auction event.  It's happening on the 23rd, so I hope I can make it. Before in combat  I would get flustered and overwhelmed, getting so caught up that my vision would tunnel. This time around though I was able to take a  step back  and actually see what is going on around my ship. I even managed to take a few pictures. ...

YC123.02.10 - Price of Immortality

//PERSONAL LOG //ENTRY BY   CLEMENTINE LAFLEUR //DATE   YC123.02.10 I haven't written any form of poetry since mother and father died. It use to be such an escape to be able to find somewhere in the middle of nowhere and let my mind wonder. The past few years I have just been so preoccupied that I haven't had the chance. Don't get me wrong. all the new and amazing things and people I have seen, heard and met have beyond anything I could of imagined. My friends would be in awe with the tales I could tell now. Although, now that I think about it, I guess that life is no longer my life anymore?  This has been something that I have thought about more and more, and with the  announcement on the IGS of a writing contest in March ,I have decided to put pen to paper. I don't know if I'll ever publish it publicly but just so I have it written down somewhere, I'm going to record it here. I believe 'tis right to ponder our worth, Less a teardrop in the ocean of stars...

YC123.02.01 - A Gift

Image
//PERSONAL LOG //ENTRY BY CLEMENTINE LAFLEUR //DATE YC123.02.01 Zentron Kalkoken Sometimes I wonder what impact we can make in this cluster. Maybe it's too big of a goal to try and change everything on your own. Sometimes the best thing you can do is make an impact on someone else. The other day I got into a very deep conversation with my friend Zentron  about what it means to be us . Casuleers have transcended the mortal shell that held humans back for so long. We can go out into the vastness of space without a care, trading volleys at each other with the intent to blow one another up. When this becomes the norm, we forget about those that only have one life serving aboard our vessels. We see them not as humans but as expendable playthings, ready to throw them at hazards we no longer care about. In some naive way, I saw capsuleers as the next step of evolution, an elevation of morality, but it seems to be the opposite. We've become numb to the sanctity of life, and I fear that...
