Origin - The Last Lafleur

I was seventeen when it happened. We had learned about it in our Holo-studies, the importance of our planet to the Federation. Heard the whispers of liberation from the small communities of Caldari. But we never thought it would happen, and not so quickly. We heard them first, the retro thrusters slowing down their descend, the loud clunk of landing pads making contact with the ground. The heavy footfall of combat boots and the splintering of front doors as foreign soldiers dragged us out of our beds demanding to see our credentials. A barked command “Gallenteans, you are to remain in your homes, failure to comply and you will be shot”. The battles across the city could be heard for miles around, but by morning it was quiet. All channels had been tuned to a single broadcast of a disheveled reporter announcing what we had feared. That Caldari Prime was now under martial law by order of Executor Tibus Heth.

For five years we were pawns held to ransom by our corporate overlords. For five years the Provies patrolled the streets like prison wardens, restricting movement and suppressing any resistance against their rule. For five years we waited for our beloved Federation to liberate us. I lost both my parents when they did. My father had joined the Joint Resistance Movement, who were responsible for the destruction of the Provy HQ. He was among those that were dealt with.

What happened after that was a blur. Fragments of memory still float around like pieces of different jigsaw puzzles. I am unsure if it is some anabolic chemical blocking it in my clone state or if it is my brain protecting me from having to go through those events again. I have read the reports time and time again, but it still feels like it happened to someone else. To this day I am still surprised that they enrolled me on the capsuleer course.
